Jazz in Paris: history and mythic places
Mostly located in Parisian cellars in the 20th century, Parisian jazz clubs have always been mythical places in Paris. During the Roaring Twenties, the most popular districts in Paris were the Champs-Elysées and Montmartre, with famous venues such as Le boeuf sur le toit and the Grand Duc near Pigalle. In the 1950s it was the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district that took part in the dance. The club Les Lorientais brought the author and musician Boris Vian to light!
